Prewriting Tips
Develop strong or distinctive characters. For example, their favorite food, clothe music, mood or attitudes about life.
Dialogue that develop characters (relationships, motivations and conflict) and advance the plot.
Setting – the time and place of the story.
Story is told from a specific point of view (i.e. first person and/or third person narrator).
Plot or series of events that leads to the climax to make the story unique.
Use either foreshadowing, metaphor or irony.
Theme that is revealed by the story’s end.
Write for a specific audience (i.e. reader based prose).
